At a reception in the House of Commons, organised by the charity Beating Bowel Cancer, the clear message was to reduce the screening age from 60 to 50 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (it’s already 50 in Scotland). This could save 4000 lives a year. Bowel cancer causes the second most deaths of all cancers but if diagnosed early the survival rate is very high.
